Introduction

What is Freedombase?

Freedombase is a sixth generation language (6GL), that combines Spread of Activation (from the field of Cognitive Psychology) with half of a neural network. Freedombase integrates aspects of artificial intelligence with traditional compiler and database design theory to create an intelligent software development toolset that can understand and apply business rules without the need for custom written programs to implement those rules.

Business rules are defined in a simple format very similar to spreadsheet calculations. Those rules are then attached to various points in the database, and applied as and when appropriate by Freedombase. Whenever any data changes, Freedombase uses Spread of Activation and the business rules to determine which rules apply to the changed data and what other data is impacted. Freedombase then cascades those updates throughout the database, applying all rules as appropriate.

Systems developed using Freedombase are quick and easy to create, to understand, and to maintain. This unique combination of technologies has won Freedombase recognition in multiple awards, and a PCT Patent has been accepted for the technology behind Freedombase.

New features

Freedombase 8.1 introduced embedded AJAX functionality, to provide GUI style operations through any recent Web browser, with little or no coding or design.

Freedombase 8.2 introduces full ODBC compliance/support for ODBC database connections, and makes Web enabling existing applications that use an ODBC data source quick and easy.

Browser and device compatibility

All Freedombase Web pages are compatible across all major browsers and all internet capable devices. All functions and all features work correctly regardless of the browser or device that Freedombase is being run through.

What about existing systems?

Freedombase can be used to Web enable existing systems, quickly and easily, and to extend existing systems that use one of the database engines or connectivity methods that Freedombase supports.
